and our labour of love.
We offer our produce without pesticides.
Belgium has a growing network of organic producers, and we are proud to take the first steps to become a part of this movement. We believe everyone should have access to high-quality food at an affordable price. Instead, our produce is grown following sustainable practices that work with nature and without synthetic chemicals and fertilizers. We do this through cultivating with natural cycles and rhythms of nature. Biodiversity is key to creating thriving and sustainable ecosystems. Our goal is to conserve and maximize biodiversity potential on our lands.
Much of what we have learned has been in partnership with other organic growers and through our own trial and error. Changing seasons, unpredictable weather, and other factors impacting the growing season are moments when creativity can take us to the next level. At Les Jardins D’Esmée, we consistently research new methods of organic cultivation.
Our heartfelt commitment is to environmental stewardship and providing fresh and quality foods to our customers. People ask why we chose the name we did for our business. Esmée is the name of our three-year-old daughter to whom we dedicate this project and to her generation.

I love food. For me, cooking is an expression of love, sharing, and togetherness. Fresh and flavourful ingredients can make all the difference. So when the opportunity to start our gardens here in Belgium came along, it was something I couldn’t pass up. The chance to grow organic, fresh, and healthy food for our family, community, and others was something that just sounded so right to me.
I was born and raised in Canada, and I grew up having fond memories of a beautiful garden at home. My mother would grow a breathtaking array of flowers and cultivated vegetables when she could. It was special having fresh produce picked from our garden on our dinner plates.
My own love for growing was something I carried over here to Belgium. Working with the earth and nurturing each plant comes with so much love. Love for the planet, our daughter, and her generation to come. This is our passion project and a new horizon for us, but something we truly believe in.
Our Philosophy
We started Les Jardins D’Esmée (LJE) out of a drive to create good quality and fresh food and a belief that it can be grown without any harmful chemicals to ourselves or the environment. We appreciate all who have shown their enthusiasm and support for our venture. Your support helps to keep it going.
The mission of LJE is to be a year-round local source of high-quality food grown on our land using organic principles to nurture not just our communities but the fragile ecosystems we are dedicated to maintain.
We are nature lovers at heart.
For this reason, we strive to grow with nature and follow the natural cycles and seasons.
We believe there should be a connection between food and people.
We believe community and sharing go hand in hand.
Much of what we have learned is from others in the business, and we share that knowledge where possible.
Where possible, we value and support other small businesses just like us.
